I am interested in how evolution works on a grand scale. My goal is to identify general principals and repeating themes in the evolution of vertebrate biodiversity by investigating the impact of ecological shifts on the evolution of phenotypic and phylogenetic diversity. Only by understanding the macroevolutionary dynamics of these shifts and their impact on origination, trait evolution, diversification and extinction can we begin to predict how clades will respond to future changes.

Listed below are four broad areas of research that my current and recent projects can be divided into, to find out more about the individual studies please click the appropriate link.
